The devs behind “War of the Worlds: Siberia” have dropped a story trailer that outlines how the disaster gets rolling. It’s short, cinematic, and a bit grim — in a good way.

The setting is an alternate Russian Empire near the end of the 19th c.; think steam-era tech colliding with something not of this world. After the alien incursion, people stream out of major cities en masse. The protagonist decides to head for Siberia, where new dangers (and maybe a few surprises) wait on the long road north — devs hint at survival and confrontation, not just sightseeing.

Comments under the trailer were mostly enthusiastic. A couple of reactions, paraphrased:

  • “Gives me chills — you guys smashed it,” wrote one user.
  • “Wow, this looks awesome,” another added.

The game will be available for purchase in 2027, the exact release date is not announced.
