At CinemaCon, the first trailer for Zak Kruger's adaptation of Resident Evil was presented

The first trailer of Zach Cregger's Resident Evil adaptation was presented at CinemaCon

At CinemaCon a trailer for the game adaptation Resident Evil was shown to attendees; the clip itself isn't online yet, though a scene-by-scene description has leaked out.

In those accounts, Austin Abrams' protagonist wakes inside an abandoned house set in a snowy field — comms dead (no cell, no radio), e.g. nothing to call for help. Things go south fast: isolated claustrophobia gives way to close-up horrors, the sort that force a lot of improvisation and direct confrontation with zombies.

The film is from Zach Cregger (dir. of the horror picture "Weapons"). The cast reportedly includes Paul Walter Hauser, Zak Cherry, Kali Reis, among others.

A recent test screening drew favorable reactions, at least according to early viewers; take that with a grain of salt until wider reviews arrive. The release date is set for September 18.
