Naoki Hamaguchi, head of Creative Studio 1 at Square Enix, has confirmed that his team is developing Kingdom Hearts 4 while simultaneously finishing the final installment of the Final Fantasy 7 remake trilogy, titled "Revelation." Both projects are targeted for release in 2027, a year Square Enix leadership has already labeled the "year of decisive struggle."
Hamaguchi said he feels a heavy responsibility overseeing development on two of the company’s flagship franchises. He also addressed the possibility of adapting Square Enix properties beyond games, noting the company is actively exploring adaptations in both animation and live-action formats. While there are no concrete announcements yet, Hamaguchi indicated Square Enix is open to new ways of engaging audiences and is drawing on its experience from recent years.
