Fuse Games and Secret Mode have dropped the first gameplay trailer for Star Wars: Galactic Racer. It puts landspeeders front and center — the very vehicles you'll be piloting at the start. They favor stability and controlled drift over reckless top-end velocity, which means handling them takes some attention (and, oddly enough, a bit of restraint).
These craft don't win straight-line sprints; they sprint off the line and shrug off heavy hits instead. Their air-jet motors deliver sudden bursts useful for passing or bashing rivals, but there's a catch: the engine can overheat and wreck the speeder. Cooling is possible in bodies of water or on icy sections (e.g., puddles, frozen turns), yet too much chill is its own hazard — you can lose control if the craft gets overcooled, i.e., grip goes out the window.
The devs say more vehicle breakdowns will appear in later clips. The narrative is set after the Empire's fall, out in the Outer Rim — curious to see how that backdrop shapes tracks and encounters; we'll have to wait for the next reveal.
