Developers behind the performance-focused Linux distro CachyOS have rolled out a big update for their Proton-CachyOS compatibility layer. The standout change: OptiScaler is now automated, which means AMD GPU owners (and others) can get AMD FSR 4 working in games that originally only expose NVIDIA DLSS.

Under the hood, Proton-CachyOS grabs the required DLSS bits automatically (i.e., the DLSS libraries/runtimes). OptiScaler then hooks the DLSS calls and routes them to FSR4 code, so the game thinks it’s talking to DLSS while you get FSR4 output. In practice that removes the old hassle of launching a title repeatedly with different configs just to generate files — one run is usually enough.
