Natasha Lyonne ("Poker Face") and Jamie King ("Sin City") have been tapped for the dark comedy thriller Darlene.
The plot follows an influencer who manufactures a fake pregnancy. That stunt — e.g., staged posts and other attention-grabbing moves — backfires spectacularly; what began as a bid for notoriety soon veers into violence, with murder, an abduction, and a bloody escape unfolding as the story unravels. It’s the kind of premise that can feel like satire one moment and bluntly grim the next, depending on tone.
Jamie King will play the title role, Darlene, while Natasha Lyonne is set to portray a character named Annie.
The film is set to be directed by Mary Lambert ("Pet Sematary"). Shooting is scheduled for late summer. Premiere date: TBD (FYI).
