Netflix has released a teaser for the second season of the animated series "Blue-Eyed Samurai." The new batch of episodes is due in January 2027, though the creators will confirm the exact date closer to the launch. At the same time, the show has been renewed for a third — and final — season, currently penciled in for 2028.

The story follows Mizu, a young warrior forced to conceal her identity in Edo-period Japan. Her main aim is revenge against the people who kidnapped her mother, and along the way she encounters numerous foes and begins to piece together the mysteries of her origin (i.e., how her past ties into the present).

Season one arrived in fall 2023 and drew strong reactions: on RT it scored 97% from critics and 93% from users. It also took home an Emmy for Best Animated Series — a tidy bit of recognition, even if awards aren’t everything.
