The panic started when folks noticed 30‑day counters on titles purchased after March 2026 and assumed those counters meant offline access would be cut off. In reality the timers are aimed at refund abuse — think: buy a game, go offline, then request a refund while still playing — and the verification closes that loophole. Most legitimate owners probably won’t notice any difference; people normally go online at least once to download their purchases (and patches), so this feels like a patch for a specific exploit rather than a broad new restriction.
