For the BiliBili World event in Shanghai, the Creative Assembly team prepared a short gameplay video of Total War: Warhammer 40,000. The clip is set in the Armageddon war theater: Astra Militarum vs. Orks, a desperate defense of a key city. Forces on the ground span Cadian shock troops to heavy armor, incl. the tank "Doom Blade."
Terrain plays a visible role here. Water bogs units down, which gives aircraft easy opportunities while enemies are mid-crossing; you can actually see squads routed by simple environmental traps. Destructible scenery is part of the loop too — a few wagons are detonated to open routes (or deny cover), and yes, sometimes blowing your own objects turns out to be the pragmatic choice.
According to Creative Assembly, winning often means juggling unit types, planning ahead, and being willing to sacrifice assets when needed — or at least that’s how they frame it. It comes off less like a checklist and more like a nudge to be flexible on the fly.
Total War: Warhammer 40,000 will appear on PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series; RU text is included. Release date: TBD.
