That physical release carries a caveat common in recent game launches: consoles must be connected to the internet to perform a mandatory download before the game can be launched. This contrasts with the two-disc editions of the previous two parts, which were reportedly playable immediately after purchase without an initial online download.
While many players may not be affected, the requirement frustrates collectors who expect fully usable physical copies out of the box. The announcement arrives amid an ongoing decline in manufacturers’ interest in physical game editions and the various problems that trend has produced.
