This week Ubisoft confirmed a remake of its platformer under the name Rayman Legends Retold. Expect upgraded visuals, reworked gameplay, fresh levels, and a four-player co-op mode; the team says the project is aimed at PC and all current consoles.

Thibaut Assandri, Technical Director at Ubisoft Montpellier, told VGC that the Nintendo Switch 2 edition will use Nvidia DLSS upscaling. In docked play the title should be able to run at 4K—Ubisoft even compares the image to what the Xbox Series S delivers. They’re targeting 60 fps with ray tracing enabled on every platform, Switch 2 included, though whether that holds in every scenario is something only hands-on testing will prove.

Behind the scenes the developers gave the Snowdrop engine a substantial overhaul. Originally built for large open worlds, that codebase reportedly helped the team squeeze out optimizations for this remake. Release date: October 1, on PC, PS5, Xbox Series, and Switch 2.
