Delay does strange things to expectations. Wait long enough and a sequel becomes less a game and more a rumor mill where every NPC has a backstory, the virtual economy balances itself, and you can inexplicably run a café inside someone’s apartment. Thirteen years after GTA V, GTA 6 mutated from a follow-up into something like a shared hallucination.

André Segers, who runs the YouTube channel GameXplain, put it bluntly on Reddit:

Thanks to the GTA 6 leaks for reminding me that it’s just a game, not the second coming of Christ.

Some players, however, said the leaks actually pumped up their hopes — esp. because Rockstar hadn’t shown gameplay. One commenter blamed the studio’s timing:

If the developers had shown a gameplay trailer a month earlier and also provided us with details like the website launch and screenshots, we wouldn’t chase after these leaks the way we do. It’s their own fault that players want content.

Another voice hit a different, wearily funny note:

What if they just fired all the marketers and forgot about the campaign?

It’s natural to compare. Folks keep bringing up No Man’s Sky, Cyberpunk 2077, Starfield — e.g., games that dazzled in trailers but were different at launch. So the consensus for many is: wait for the Netflix presentation, wait for the release, then judge how badly you still want GTA 6. Release date: November 19.
