Watch Almost 12 Minutes of Mortal Shell II Gameplay

Studio Cold Symmetry, backed by publisher Playstack, released a full gameplay demo of Mortal Shell II. It’s the follow-up to the divisive action-RPG Mortal Shell, first shown nearly a year ago at Summer Game Fest 2025.

This sequel drops you into a relatively compact open world where combat moves at a quicker clip and weapons carry a lot of visual and mechanical detail. You still inhabit so-called shells — vessels left by notable fighters, each with distinct abilities (e.g., one may favor heavy hits, another speed). The protagonist is the Harbinger, basically someone who hops between bodies rather than fighting as a single, fixed character — whether that feels fresh will depend on you.

The playthrough wanders through varied locales, teases hidden paths and lore fragments, and throws a range of monsters at the player; some encounters look neat, others feel a bit familiar. Expect exploration, occasional puzzle-like shortcuts, and combat encounters that push you to adapt.

Mortal Shell II is slated for release this year on PC (Steam), PlayStation 5 (PS5), and Xbox Series, with Russian text localization listed.

Alongside the demo, the devs unveiled a physical edition at $49.99 and a collector’s edition priced $69.99 — the latter ships with a steelbook, an artbook, and prints. If you’re into physical extras, that’s the option they’re pushing.
