The developers of Apex Legends have lifted the veil on update 29.0, dubbed Overclocked. It brings a slate of new content and fairly deep gameplay shifts; the team says these changes were driven by match stats and player feedback.
A headline addition: a new legend called Axle. Expect different team dynamics—Axle should shuffle roles and create new ways for squads to interact (e.g., more options for pushing or holding ground).
Core mechanics are getting altered too. One change lets teammates be revived right at their death box. There's also a chain-heal mechanic aimed at improving in-combat recovery. Short version: faster heals, and resurrections that don't always mean a long trip back to your loot.
Balance tweaks are incoming for characters. Vantage is set for buffs; Conduit will be tuned to feel more viable; Alter is on the nerf list to dial back her match dominance and, hopefully, reduce some of the salt players have reported. FYI: the devs used match data to guide these calls.
Weapon tuning, however, was sidelined recently—apparently because work on new elite weapons took precedence in the prior update. A full weapons breakdown is promised in the next set of design notes, so expect more specifics then.
On paper the patch aims to spice up gameplay and give players more toys to experiment with, while keeping things fair. Whether it hits that balance in practice? Time (and a few thousand matches) will tell.
