Pearl Abyss has finally settled on plans for DokeV. The title is now slated for release in H2 2028, and its dev work runs in parallel with Plan 8 — a slow-burn return after years of quiet that feels oddly sudden.
DokeV first surfaced in 2019 as an MMO with an open world, where players would gather dokebi — creatures inspired by Korean myth (i.e., dokkaebi). Two years on, the studio dropped the MMO tag and recast the project as an action-adventure. A 2021 trailer raised talk of a Pokémon-esque rival: loud colors, a distinctive art direction, lots of buzz. Then the newsfeed thinned; after an indefinite postponement in 2022, Pearl Abyss put more weight behind Crimson Desert. The saga isn’t over, but it hasn’t followed a tidy, predictable arc.
