A name change: HandyGames says the arm that handles mobile versions of its titles will be rebranded as THQ Nordic Mobile.

Its remit is straightforward — moving big PC/console titles onto phones and tablets; ports, essentially. Past work includes mobile takes on Wreckfest and SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom, examples the company points to.

THQ Nordic hopes the switch will speed up large-scale adaptations for iOS/Android and other emerging mobile platforms. Meanwhile, the Giebelstadt dev team will keep operating under HandyGames Studios. They'll keep making original games and, at the same time, help with the technical heavy lifting on ports.

Founders Christopher and Markus Kasskulle remain in charge, overseeing both the new mobile division and HandyGames Studios. The company says ongoing projects, partner relationships and existing agreements will continue unchanged.
