Kevin Feige and director Jake Schreier went looking through the usual Hollywood blond pool — the meme-y, interchangeable faces — and, according to Deadline, landed on 34-year-old Australian Samara Weaving to play Emma Frost. Samara (aka Emma Frost) — credits include I’m Going to Find You and Guns Akimbo — reportedly outshone other contenders during auditions; Margot Robbie was among those mentioned. Odd bit of backstory: Sigourney Weaver almost took the role for the 2006 “Last Battle.”

Marvel recently made a move — they pulled Ryan Gosling out of a different franchise (yes, he showed up in Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: Starfighter) and put him on Ghost Rider’s bike. At the same time, the Blade situation went off the rails: Mahershala Ali ended up leaving the part.
