Carrie Coon (Gone Girl), Lukas Gage (Bushwhacked), and Ben Platt (Beauty) have landed roles in a new darkly comic psychological thriller titled I Am Not Your Mother (working title: "I Am Not Your Mother").

Plot-wise: Ollie (Platt) is a young dir. obsessed with cult star Nora Dresden (Coon). She’s itching for a comeback and he’s desperate to cast her in his feature debut—what starts as idolization slowly curdles into something controlling and dangerous; their partnership turns into a kind of toxic power-play. Expect tension and unpredictability rather than neat answers.

The film is being steered by dir. Craig Johnson (Parenthood), who also co-writes the script w/ Ryan O’Connell (The Sitcom). Johnson suggested audiences should brace for sharp humor and a fair amount of blood—no subtle curtain calls here. (Whether that tone lands as thrilling or just messy remains to be seen.)

No further casting has been revealed, and there’s no premiere date yet.
