The first trailer for the movie "Jumanji: The Open World" has been released
Sony Pictures dropped the first trailer for the next chapter in the Jumanji saga — the new movie "Jumanji: The Open World." The clip gives a fresh look at the returning ensemble led by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Karen Gillan.
This instalment is the third of the rebooted run that began with "Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle" (2017) and continued with "Jumanji: The Next Level" (2019). Together those two films hauled in more than $1.7 billion worldwide (yes, really).
The rebooted series reworks the 1995 Robin Williams picture, shifting the threat from a board game vs. a video game — teens controlling in-game avatars played by the current leads. The conceit lets the franchise play with identity and chaos in a way the original didn’t.
Also aboard: Danny DeVito, Nick Jonas, Awkwafina, Marin Hinkle, BeBe Neuwirth, Lamorris Morris, and Rhys Darby. New additions include Dan Hildebrand and Jack Jucks.
Jake Kasdan returns as director, the same filmmaker who steered the previous two entries.
Plot-wise the trailer teases a rule-breaker: the magical game starts spilling its horrors into a real city. Expect "open world" mechanics — e.g., avatars swapping bodies, predators and jungle traps showing up on sidewalks — and scenes where digital logic collides with everyday life. The quartet’s mission is to clear the final (and apparently most unpredictable) level before things spiral further.
The global premiere of "Jumanji: The Open World" is set for December 25, 2026.
