007 First Light Print Run Reaches 3 Million Copies, While the Game Still Cost Less Than $200 Million
Just as IO Interactive reported the sale of 2.7 million copies of the action game 007 First Light, the studio head Hakan Abrak told IGN an even more pleasing figure — 3 million, which is "significantly above forecasts at the moment". On this occasion, the IOI boss "feels absolutely fantastic". And it's been less than two weeks. "By all indications, it’s damn successful. Everything is going smoothly, and it's fantastic."
Abrak also confirmed that the studio has good relations with the rights holders at Amazon, who will now be publishing Bond games themselves, and commented on rumors about the project's budget, which turned out to be somewhat inaccurate.
We pay our teams large bonuses if they achieve several goals. There are also other bonuses that will be paid out in the future. There are also marketing and other expenses. So this is not the actual cost of the product. But we compensate for all of this. It is certainly the most expensive product, but it’s not the cost of the game itself, not $200 million.
