The fifth entry in Pixar's "Toy Story" series has just climbed to the top of its franchise box-office list. After this past weekend its global take reached $1.07 billion, nudging past the previous leader (the fourth film) by the slimmest of margins.
Currently, the total box office earnings for all parts of the series are as follows:
- "Toy Story 5" (2026) — $1.07 billion
- "Toy Story 4" (2019) — $1.07 billion
- "Toy Story 3" (2010) — $1.06 billion
- "Toy Story 2" (1999) — $497 million
- "Toy Story" (1995) — $373 million
Plot-wise: Bonnie has trouble connecting w/ other kids. Her folks bring home an educational tablet (e.g., a bright, distracting screen) that grabs her full attention and sparks a wide-scale showdown between old-school toys and new tech. The movie is still playing in theaters, and it's directed by Andrew Stanton — yes, the long-time Pixar vet who’s been around these characters before.
