Leaks have surfaced from the first independent gaming runs of Intel’s Bartlett Lake-S — an LGA1700 part built only from P-cores (P-core = perf.), with no E-cores (E-core = eff.). The 12-core flagship produced results that left reviewers a bit bewildered: in a number of popular titles it still didn’t top the roughly four‑year‑old Core i9-13900K.
Under 1080p test conditions using a top-end GPU, the older i9-13900K (8 P + 16 E) kept the edge in average FPS across most AAA games. Likewise, AMD’s Ryzen X3D chips starting at the 7800X3D remain faster choices for raw average framerates.
There is a counterpoint worth noting: the all‑P-core 12‑core showed a clear advantage in 1% low FPS (FPS: avg / 1% low). On average its 1% lows ran about 5–8% higher than the i9-13900K — the kind of win that helps when stutters crop up during hectic scenes.
