The developers of Songs of Conquest have released the "Yulan" expansion, which the studio is calling the most extensive faction DLC in the game's history. The concept, they say, goes back nearly ten years — well before the strategy title reached its full release.
"Yulan" is built around three ancient houses and their brittle alliances. Players pick an aligning entity — Order, Arcana or Creation — a choice that shapes unit progression, which buildings you can construct, and how skirmishes tend to unfold (i.e., it changes army development, available structures and combat style).
According to the team, this faction introduces a wider array of unique units and branching development options than past expansions; that's their headline claim, at least.
Included with the DLC are nine new masters, five conquest maps and a set of fresh artifacts. There's also a full story campaign made up of 3 scenarios, which puts House Shen and Master Shun front and center as they deal with newly emerging threats to Yulan.
The update touched the base game as well: new tools for map-makers were added and extra content dropped into the core build so non-DLC players get something too (e.g., editor improvements and general content tweaks).
Finally, the developers thanked the community — player feedback and activity, they noted, pushed Songs of Conquest beyond the studio's original expectations, helping shape the release.
