After a long stretch without meaningful changes to selfie hardware, Samsung may finally be moving away from the familiar 12MP front sensor: insiders claim the Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra will get a new 16-megapixel module.
Word is both phones will use a square sensor. That layout makes full-resolution shots possible in portrait or landscape without losing pixels — e.g., no need to crop for one orientation over the other.
The update looks aimed at the upper tier; there's no firm word yet that the Galaxy S27 and Galaxy S27 Plus will receive the same front camera, so expect the swap to be limited to Pro/Ultra models for now.
On the rear optics side, the S27 Pro may gain a 50MP telephoto with roughly 3.5x optical zoom. Meanwhile, rumors say the S27 Ultra could drop its separate 3x telephoto module, which would change how Samsung configures its zoom stack.
Finally, the whole Galaxy S27 family is said to get Privacy Display tech to narrow viewing angles and shield on-screen info from bystanders — a feature that, until now, was reserved for the Ultra. As always with leaks, treat these details as provisional; plans can and do change.
